HOW TO BE IRREPLACEABLE

HOW TO BE IRREPLACEABLE

  • BE DIFFERENT
Instead of comparing yourself to others, differentiate yourself. You will never become irreplaceable doing what everyone else does. When you take more action and think bigger than those around you, you start becoming more valuable. You must give up something and sacrifice to get to the next level. Figure out what makes you different from your competitors. Criss Jami said, "When you're the only sane person, you look like the only insane person". You see, when you're different, people can see you in a clear manner. Albert Einstein, "The person who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. The person who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever seen before." Being different doesn't mean you don't speak with other people or build relationships - you'll get more light on this in the next point.

  • BUILD GOOD RELATIONSHIPS
The term relationship is rooted from the word 'relation' and is defined as a a mutual affiliation or connection between individuals or groups of people. Relationships are built where there is mutual understanding between or among individuals. Human beings are naturally social creatures – we crave friendship and positive interactions, just as we do food and water. So it makes sense that the better our relationships are at work, the happier and more productive we're going to be.

Building relationships involves;
Giving people your time. Devoting a portion of your time can go a long way, even if it's 15-20 minutes you could spear. You can take time to visit, or ask a colleague out for a quick cup of coffee or launch. You can also take time to reply to people's messages/postings on LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms of yours.
- Practice active listening. Listening more effectively to when you talk to your customers and colleagues. People respond to those who truly listen to what they have to say. Focus on listening more than you talk, and you'll quickly become known as someone who can be trusted.
- Avoid gossipingGood working relationships give us several benefits; our work is more enjoyable when we have good relationships with those around us.
Learning to give and take feed backs.

Good relationships are also often necessary if we hope to develop our careers. After all, if your boss doesn't trust you, it's unlikely that he or she will consider you when a new position opens up. Overall, we all want to work with people we're on good terms with. Also, good relationships with your customers goes a long way to being irreplaceable. Imagine you weren't around at your work place for sometime, you'll surely be noted by everyone especially your customers if you've built good relationships. In fact, your customers might go ahead to ask and question the organisation about your absence at work. Customers, suppliers and key stakeholders are all essential to our success. So, it's important to build and maintain good relations with these people.

  • DO MORE TO ADD VALUE
Irreplaceable employees think about how to grow the company constantly. They suggest improvements on everything, then, they act on these suggestions and show the results. Irreplaceable employees understand that the status quo is not good enough and they strive and thrive to be one step ahead of what’s going on. Because you get to your work place earlier than everyone else and leave late does not mean you are irreplaceable. You must add value to be irreplaceable. It's easy talking about value than to practice adding value. When you are invaluable people will pay dearly for an experience that helps them get more of what they want out of life. For instance, Neymar Jr, one of the most skillful and entertaining footballers in the world transferred to Paris Saint Germain in France for a world record that still stands firm because his pattern of play and skillfulness made him valuable, and very difficult to replace, even at national level in the Brazil national team.
